Outside is More Sittable with Portable Folding Chairs
If you live near the ocean or a lake with a beach, or for that matter spend any time at any park, you’re likely to see lots of people with portable folding chairs heading to the beach or the picnic areas.
There’s a good reason for this.
When you’re real young laying in the sand or on the grass on a towel or blanket may be comfortable enough but as an adult, it’s just more comfortable to sit in a chair when your relaxing, socializing, reading or eating you picnic lunch. Sure a towel is more portable, but with it comes the sand and grass and ants in your food.
Portable folding chairs aren’t just for the beach, of course.
Going camping, spending the afternoon picnicking in the park and watching kids play soccer and football are institutions all across America.
Anytime extra seating is required these portable folding chairs will take care of the job.
Whether it’s football tailgating, a neighborhood backyard barbecue or just a bunch of friends getting together outside, toss them in the trunk (the chairs, not the friends), or into the back of the pickup and your covered for seating.
Portable folding chairs are made in a couple of basic styles with a few options. The classic style. which has been around for decades, is constructed of two rectangles of tubular aluminum, hinged in the middle with nylon or a similar webbing material cross woven for the seat and back. Attach plastic or wood arms and that’s it. They’re lightweight, fold flat, are generally inexpensive and very portable. However carrying these any real distance or carrying several of them at once can be inconvenient. They’re stable in sand or on flat ground but they have a base of two horizontal bars so they will wobble on sloped or uneven ground. In recent years some manufactures have added backpack straps, making carrying them a breeze.
A newer chair, also with a tubular aluminum frame, has a base of four hinged X’s with a solid one piece nylon of canvas back and seat. Arms of the same material, including cup holders make a very comfortable and very stable unit, even for heavier adults. These chairs fold up into a 30 plus inch column shape. They are very packable and are sold in a convenient shoulder strap bag.
Whichever type of chair you choose, whether standard or deluxe models, either alternative is far preferable to eating your picnic on the ground with the bugs.
