Petite Maternity Jeans – Fashionably Expecting

Petite maternity jeans, unfortunately, are not to be found in all department stores. What a drag. It’s depressing, I know. What’s up with this, anyway? Gosh!! Nobody loves petite mothers-to-be?

If you are a petite or petite plus size, you know the struggle I’m talking about.

Petite fashion is still yet to be recognized by ready-to-wear companies. Are you one of those who had to chop off their jeans, just to get them in the right length? Well, basically, if your height falls below 5’4″, then you are petite, according to industry standards. However, petite fashion is not as easy as buying smaller sized clothes. Clothes must be well-fitted, and the style should still appear like you’re a child. It may be cute after a few times, but when you need to be taken seriously, you need to wear the right clothes.

As a petite, you have to be careful in choosing the type of ladies clothes you wear because they could make you even shorter. But what about when you get pregnant? You have this huge belly that even shortens your figure, because it attracts all the attention? Aside from that you have to make room for your growing baby inside.

Luckily there are petite maternity jeans that are made specially to suit your body type. They are cut in a way that elongates the body. How? For flared, or boot-cut styles, they cover a portion of your shoes and so you appear taller. Meanwhile, skinny jeans, create the illusion of having long legs and lean body because it fits you perfectly. While other pregnant women choose clothes that are 1 to 2 sizes bigger to accommodate their weight gain, petite women could not do the same as these clothes would just overwhelm their petite frame.

In choosing the right type of petite maternity jeans, make sure that the jeans fit you perfectly. It should neither be too tight nor too lose. Flared jeans are usually the best choice because they could reach up to floor-length making you look taller.

Also it would be nicer to wear dark colored petite maternity jeans, with solid color, to make your legs slimmer and therefore longer.

You also have to consider if the expandable belly cover, is comfortable enough for you as some could be quite itchy depending on the material used.

Another way is to wear matching colors for your top and your jeans or skirt so that you have this monochromatic look that could hide your belly and make you even look taller. Whatever color combination your choose for your ladies clothes, you are sure to look darling in your petite maternity jeans.
