Teapots Add Luxury Moments at Modest Cost

Teapots which make a fine cup of tea are like a secret weapon of serenity for busy men and women. The tilting of the teapot, and the warm traditional tea that it provides is nourishment for the soul of people who lead hectic lives.

Teapots have been around for the last several thousand years, in countries all around the world and they have inspired collectors and tea lovers from all countries for many years. There is no finer piece of kitchen equipment.

You can get teapots in many different kinds of material, from copper to cast iron, from ceramic to porcelain, to name just a few.

If you are interested in English style teapots, there are a number of different kinds.  Many of them are just one plain color, either red, black, white or some other color, but there are some beautiful ones with different pictures and designs on them.

There are Renaissance, Olde English, Country and even Scottish teapots with their own interesting history behind them.

Chinese teapots are downright fascinating.  They have been around for the last several thousand years.  You can get clay teapots, teapots with Chinese characters written on them, teapots that have beautiful flowers painted on them, or dragons, or imagery depicting a famous Chinese legend.

You can even get a teapot in the unique shape of a horse.  It has an interesting story behind it in that it is made to commemorate a legendary horse that could do math equations. It is worth it to get the teapot as well as the teacups if they come as a set.

Along with Chinese teapots and teacups there are a wide variety of different kinds of Chinese herbal teas, such as Oolong tea, that is said to provide special health benefits to the drinker. Teas from around the world are lovely to try.

Japanese teapots are also quite artistic in style and decor. They are good both for everyday use and as collectibles.

There are some that are made in more of a modern style, with stainless steel handles but also retaining a unique Japanese style, and then there are some that are daintier and more delicate.

Many Japanese tea pots are made in cast iron, although they can also be made from other materials as well.

Both the shape of the teapot, as well as the designs painted on them, all have particular meanings.  For example, there is one kind of Japanese teapot that is shaped as a fish; the symbol of the fish is equated with prosperity; the one shaped as a crane symbolizes longevity and good health.

There is also a collection of Japanese teapots made for each of the animals of the Japanese Zodiac, by J. Chen, which are great for both tea pot collections as well as everyday use.

No matter what your tastes and style, whether you are looking for a teapot or tea set in a more antique style, contemporary style, Oriental style or what have you, you are sure to find something that will not only suit your tastes but most likely awe you with the beauty and craftsmanship. Whether you keep in on a kitchen shelf, or display it in the dining room, you’ll see what a great addition it is to your home to have a teapot.
