Chandelier Light
I just love chandeliers!
A chandelier light illuminates a room beautifully. Even a dull, mousy room without a stick of furniture can gain flair and romance when lit by a chandelier. Whether in a dining room or a den, the glow and hue of the light is much different than a regular tall lamp or ceiling fan. Some chandeliers reflect light off the walls, and some simply act as the rooms lovely focal point. But whatever the purpose, no matter the style, chandeliers will always be a classy decoration.
Unlike a floor lamp, the chandelier hangs from the ceiling and is up out of the way. Kids can’t knock it over.
They look delightful when centered on the home ceiling over a table. However, this is not the only way they look nice.
Regardless of whether it’s a murano glass chandelier or a deer antler chandelier, the basic shape of a chandelier usually remains the same: at least three light bulbs that branch out from a center point in the ceiling. But the branches as well as the light bulbs can be drastically different in every respect. For example, a crystal chandelier has many hanging crystals, of any size and shape, falling from the different light branches, and they are most commonly seen in dining rooms. Or, the arms of the chandelier can be made of brass, or iron, which are commonly seen in dens or bedrooms if they are darker, but some polished brass can be as fancy as the crystal.
Chandeliers can also be a country style. They can be made of iron or brass, but also from wood or tin, and their designs and shapes tend to mimic a typical southern mansion style decoration. Chandeliers can be casual, not bringing too much attention to themselves, or they can be formal, completing the room, without which the room would look empty or incomplete.
Contemporary chandeliers can be made from glass or nickel, with many obvious geometric shapes. Pewter chandeliers especially give the room a contemporary feel, usually of a silver tone, but sometimes can be another dark color. Modern chandeliers tend to deviate away from the standard chandelier shape of three branches from the center; some of the branches come down from random ceiling point away from the center, others give off colored lighting instead of white, and some assume zigzagged or squiggly shapes without pattern. These chandeliers would probably look best in a den, or a teenager’s bedroom at home.
The chandelier light can be one of a several choices. You get to pick the shape and finish. The most common ones are probably either clear or frosted lights. Clear bulbs don’t alter the light coming from them, giving the maximum brightness, while frosted bulbs cloud the light a little, giving the room a gentler tone. Another kind of bulb is a flicker flame. This bulb mimics how a candle flame looks, actually ‘flickering’ back and forth. It’s most commonly found in chandelier lights that look like candles. However, these flame-like lights can be found in regularly-shaped lights also. Any chandelier bulb can be almost any color and of any brightness. Depending on how you want the room to look should determine what the color and style you select for your personal chandelier light.
