Digital Scale – A Great Investment
Electronic digital scales are relatively new on the scene. It used to be that we all used the incredible hulk of a white, heavy bathroom scale. The heavy bathroom scale of the past, eventually morphed into a smaller scale, but the liability was the fact that the dials were often inaccurate or would break.
There are some cheap digital scales. However, there are also state of the art premium products in the digital scale market.
There are three reasons to consider owning a digital scale for your good health. The digital scale is fast, easy to use, and accurate.
If a bathroom scale is important to you, chances are you, or someone you love, have a weight problem.
It does not matter if you need to gain weight or to lose weight, the weight scale is a scary and threatening thing.
It is always on your mind, you beg, barter, plea, and/or wish for the results you want.
Then you tiptoe (if you want the scale to go down) or stomp (if you want the scale to go up) to the scale and try to decide how to mount the scale to achieve your goal.
Do you step towards the front, stay way back, off to the left or off to the right, do you step softly or firmly or slam your foot down? Does it work? Sometimes.
How do you feel knowing you can sort-of control the outcome of the weight scale? Does it make you smile when the scale behaves? Or do you fear the results whatever they are–sometimes good, sometimes bad, never trusting the scale to give you the right weight?
On good days do you say the weight looks close to the number you want, and on bad days you “think” you see the weight number as too far from your goal because of the light in the room, your eyesight or the dial is too small?
A digital scale will help with all of these issues.
First off is the construction. A digital scale is made to evenly measure the item placed on it to be weighed.
The whole top of the scale (the area you stand on) is a cover that connects to a bar. The bar takes all the weight on the scale and sends it to a device that converts the pressure into a number. This number is displayed on a screen large enough to be read 3 to 6 feet away.
To use a digital scale, all you need to do is to step on it. You can step on it gently or firmly.
Once the weight has stabilized, the number is displayed for all to see. There is no way to trick the scale into giving you a reading you want. That’s all there is to it-get on, read the number, and get off. That’s about how long it takes.
Because the scale comes set up, all you have to do is remove it from the box (if it comes in a box), set it on the floor (a solid level floor like tiles, vinyl or wood works best), and stand on it when you want to be weighed. Many people think that their most accurate weight is obtained first thing in the morning after sleeping, and before they’ve had anything to eat or drink.
If you can read numbers, you can easily find your current weight on a digital scale. If you cannot read numbers, just copy down the numbers and have someone tell you what they say.
As I understand the manufacturing process, before the digital scale has shipped, it was tested to make sure the weight it gave was accurate.
A predetermined weight is placed on the scale. The inspector reads the dial to see if the dial records the weight correctly. If the dial is wrong, the scale is adjusted to give the correct weight readings.
Only when the inspector is satisfied with the performance of the scale is the scale processed for shipping.
Different weights are used to test the scales. A couple of the kinds of weights commonly used are cylindrical test weights and grip handle test weights. Cylindrical test weights are round cylinders and made of stainless steel alloy. Grip handle test weights are made from iron and covered with durable paint to control rusting.
Scales are typically tested at about 50 to 75% of their weight limit. However, some companies test at certain limits, like 50 pounds, 100 pounds, 150 pounds and 200pounds, to name a few. Be assured, the scales are tested.
A digital scale is a very personal purchase. Because the digital scale is often left out in a bathroom or bedroom for easy use, manufacturers design different styles and colors to compliment the decor of the room. Special features include different digital display options, including the brightness of the display and the size of the numbers.
When you want to be weighed, need to be weighed or have to be weighed, you have choices. Of the many choices you have, why not be nice to yourself and enjoy an investment in your health– the digital scale. It is fast, easy to use and accurate.
